How do you put the Nikon d610 in Live View mode? I just bought mine BRAND NEW a couple hours ago and I'm still unable to take a single photo. The LV button doesnt do anything. The screen just remains black. But if I press "info" the screen works perfectly

I know for my canon, I press info and the screen goes black. It's like a "standby" for the screen. Everything else will work if I'm using the viewfinder (the little peephole over the screen).

If you're not familiar with the viewfinder, try it out. It's a bit tricky at first if you've never used one but you will get used to it instead of the back screen. Now, assuming you have a lens and the lens cap is off, you can press the live view button or use the viewfinder to see your picture.

Er, you don't need live view to take a photo with a DSLR. In fact, live view is a huge battery drainer, makes it much harder to hold the camera steady, and the only time you'd need to use it is if you're on a tripod and you can use it to magnify your focus.

Using live view as the main way of shooting with a DSLR essentially defeats the purpose of buying a DSLR in the first place unless you intend to do nothing but shoot videos or use magnified LV on a tripod.

As for why the LV button's not working, you have to rotate a dial first. Check out the manual, page 49. If for some reason you don't have a manual, it's available online here

You said "I just bought mine BRAND NEW a couple hours ago and I'm still unable to take a single photo"

That's why they gave you a user manual. Read it.
