Master of Photography is a title worked for and given by the Professional Photographers of America. Read about it here: http://www.ppa.com/findaphotographer/degrees.php#MeritDegree_What

and here http://www.ppa.com/education-events/awards_degrees_ceremony.php

Judging from this guy's work, he is misusing that title and probably never entered their program.

You can get a Masters Degree in phototgraphy (an MFA) but there isn't any such title per se. So people are free to make up what ever they want.

In Germany to even call yourself a photographer one has to complete a rigorous university program that includes chemistry and physics - not just the parts related to photography as well as a complete Fine Arts curriculum. In the US, you just need a camera.

Edit: Well, ya learn something new everyday! Thank you Perki88!

Anyone can call themselves "master photographer."

There are organizations that give out these titles, but pretty much anyone can purchase that title from the organization for enough money.

It is completely different than to actually have a Masters Degree (MFA) in photography.

Well, he most likely also works for a fishing company baiting customers hooks...

.

And, thus, he is also a Master Bater...

.

One thing about the Internet is anyone can call themselves anything they want, and who is to question it.

.

Made up titles. Degrees. Diplomas, etc.... Anyone can get and be anything they want..

.

However, at one time I do believe there WAS a title one could get, achieve or be awarded, called a - Master Photographer.

.

.

So yes Dorthy, there IS a magical title (and person) who can be behind that curtain and called a Master Photographer....

.

However, again... It is awarded by others who ALSO call them selves such....

Yeah you earn it by beating a black belt master photographer in a martial arts match.

Seriously, no, there's no such thing. Maybe if I challenge and beat him, I can be a Master Photographer too.

I had a peek too. He really shouldn't be bragging as much as that. At all.

Depends on how people use the term 'photographer'. Technically, anyone who takes a picture is a "photographer". However, usually, the connotation is of someone who actually knows what they are doing; the term IMPLIES (though does not explicitly state) some degree of technical or artistic ability beyond that of the casual photographer. So what I may consider a photographer may not be what someone else considers a photographer (what others may consider photographers, I may consider "photohobbyists" or "snapshooters" or "recreational photographers".)

Maybe if there's a masteral or even doctorate degree in photography. I'm not sure. Very few colleges and universities give a degree on photography. The nearest I think is film and cinematography.

A quick peek at this guys "wedding portfolio" demonstrates that this guy knows nothing about photography. He obviously labeled himself as a "master" when in fact he is far from that... Is that website for real? I hope its a joke...

There is some organizations and clubs that will give out titles. You can do a google search and find a few.
