In photography, a tripod is a three-legged stand for a camera, used to stabilize and elevate the camera.
A monopod stands on 1 leg, a tripod on 3. Tripods are more stable, but a monopod is more compact.
In addition, some photographers use a one-legged telescoping stand called a monopod for convenience in setup and breakdown. A monopod requires the photographer to hold the camera in place, but because the photographer no longer has to support the full weight of the camera, it can provide many of the same stabilization advantages as a tripod.

A monopod has one leg... a tripod has 3 legs. A monopod is easier to carry around because it's smaller, but it can not be left alone. A tripod is a bit larger, but can be left alone.

a mono mod is just a 1 rod like a stick that you can attach a camera to... its not as steady as a tripod ( which has 3 legs that can balance itself). A tripod would be better because u can always use it like a monopod if you would ever need to.

well since the word Mono stands for ONE
and the word TRI stands for THREE
then im assuming that the monopod
is one leg
and the tripod is three legs

A monopod can double as a hiking staff, but will not stand unattended.
