You have to advertise. In the past I have used college newspapers with excellent results. Some models are willing to work for free if you agree to compensate them with HIGH QUALITY 8x10's for their personal portfolios. I have also paid some of them in the past, but only if they sign a model release allowing me to sell the photos or use them in my advertising of my business. I seldom pay more than $200. but only because I usually photograph 20-30 yr old women with little or no modeling experience. Not all of the photos are nudes....in fact the market has more opportunities for semi-nudes and lingerie photos.

A friend of mine once scheduled a "Photo Contest" for models advertising a $500 1st place prize. Within 3 weeks he got over 100 applications and inquiries. He selected 90% of them and collected a $25. application fee from everyone and the rights to use their photos in his business. The winner was paid a prize, but HE was the REAL winner.

Well, there's not a nude model store you can swing by . . .

when I was in college I had a still life drawing class and I was so fascinated with one of the models I paid her to model for photography a couple times. she would have taken less but I paid her twice what she was being paid by the college.

A couple guys in another photo class were always in the darkroom with nudes, one day i asked where they met all the beautiful young women. strip clubs is what they told me.

I think you should go and check out the site called One Model Place. It is a great site for model, actresses, photographers, etc.....

There are a lot of models on there who want to do more work, including nude photos, and for the most part they do what they call "Trade for Photos" which means no one pays anyone anything, you get a model, and they get the photos. It is a good way to build up your experience and portfolio.

Thanks for reading!

The difference between some art and pornography can be difficult to tell. If an artist makes something and calls it art, well then it's art. On the other hand a pornographer is making images intended to "get you off". Even trickier, an artist can make an image intended to arouse you, call it art, and it's art. You have to ask yourself why you're looking at these images. If you're on a porn website you're not looking at art. If you're at a gallery looking at provocative photos, and you're aroused, perhaps that was the artists intention. I say don't beat yourself up about it either way.

Try craigslist or other local classifieds. Be sure to indicate whether you are willing to pay or not. Being able to supply a sample of your work (so they know you are not a vouyer, pornographer, etc) would be a plus as well.

A lot of model agencies have figure models available, but they are really picky about who's taking the pictures. Usually require a portfolio, and references. ?How do you get the portfolio without models? Have you tried escort services?

a bar get em all liquored up and take pictures of em or you could take a more serious approach and go to a school that has a photography department and then ask them in a professional manner and if they are really dedicated they would probably pose for you

i've seen photographers list requests for nude models on craigslist.com... usually they just offer copies of the pics they take as payment to build their portfolios, and it's local, too

Mark, I'm also a part time photographer and started shooting art nudes a couple years ago. Some of the model/photographer sites such as One Model Place and Model Mayhem are good places to start. Overall, I've had better luck with Model Mayhem, However, if you don't have many people images, you might want to start with OMP as your portfolio there doesn't have to focus on images of people.

I've also had a little luck with myspace and more luck with craigslist. With both Model Mayhem and OMP, expect to have to contact a lot of models before you get one. The response rate can be very poor, so stick with it. It's unlike you'll get any models to start with unless you are willing to pay. $30-50/hour with a two hour minimum guarantee, will probably set you up with a few amateur models. More experienced models are more likely to be $75/hour and up.

Once you've established yourself and have a solid portfolio of images, it's easier for you to negotiate.

I think it also helps to have webpage to refer models to that shows you are serious and tasteful, as well as give copies of your usage rights agreement and model release.

Best of luck.
