Ok, I know everyone who's like a pro at editing photos was once a beginner, so my question is where did you all learn how to work with Photoshop?

I really need/want to learn how to make skin look flawless and everything else I seem to be so behind on. An example would be this man's work:

Suggested forums & tutorial sites would be very, very much appreciated :]

I believe that both software has a free trial or maybe a "stripped-down" version that is free. Knowing both (I'm an engineer) I can only say that they are very different. I mainly use autocad for ...CAD... ie when doing technical plans where the power of the tool is really useful. I use photoshop for doing a presentation of a product. You can also learn to use Solid Works. I can do pretty much everything that autocad can do but it also does 3D. Added details : You don't need a powerful computer for solid works. It works very well on our school computer (pentium 4 2.8 ghz, 1gb of ram and integrated 128mb video card...)

I didn't go to school to learn photoshop. It is some sort of a hobby. I started using photoshop with simple cutting and pasting. Then resizing, rotating and color adjustment. Then comes the filter which does all the magics in photoshop. Try working on one subject and explore what each toolbar does. The pictures on the link you posted were mostly done using image adjustment (color, brightness, etc) with some filter effects (glow, blur, sharpen, etc). It's easy. and FUN too!

You have to mess with photoshop a lot. You'd be surprised how much you can teach yourself if you fool around with photos.

Youtube does have a lot of videos on the other hand about fixing skin tones and make up.

I highly recommend John Shaw's e-book titled "Photoshop Field Guide". Those he is a nature photographer and the book is aimed at the same the techniques can be applied to any type of photography. He's a master of instruction who dumbs it down so that anyone can understand it.

I would check with your local community college to see if they have a credit or non-credit class on it...that is what I am going to do so I can edit my own wedding pictures and print them.

Take classes or keep asking in Yahoo on what specific questions you may have, pretty soon, you have all your answers.
