I bought 2 prints at the MFA and they are 8.5 X 12. Kind of a random size. It seems like most places just have 8 X 10 frames. Anyone have any ideas on where i can get a frame that is 8.5 X 12? I even looked online and i dont see much.

Use a matte, the cut out in the matte matches the picture, the outside dimensions of the matte match the frame.

Forget paper size limitations when you printing your pictures, square or letterbox formats all work well and add to the overall effect. Then just make your mattes cut out fit the image.

Take a trip around any Art Gallery to see what I mean.

The matte keeps the picture away from the glass which prevents it from sticking, this means you can change the picture in any of your frames without ruining the picture.

do not situation too a lot about the dimensions of the openings. see you later because the selected pictures are larger than the outlet, you'll don't have any situation. truly, you may usually detect a very cute image that has a large volume of undesirable you may crop out. that is how: the perfect way is to take the body aside so as that the openings are hollow (no backing or glass). Lay out a set of images you incredibly like. Then hover the body above the images till you discover what you want. you'll possibly want to trim the image. to do this, very heavily position the piece of glass meant for the outlet you're filling on acceptable of the image you'd be using. Take a pen and out line the image around the glass. gently get rid of the glass and then decrease alongside the drawn line with scissors. the idea is to have the image the exact same length because the glass. it truly is it, you at the instantaneous are waiting to carry mutually your image body inclusive of your renowned and maximum memorable pictures! solid success!

The prints were meant to be matted than framed, so a 10x14 or larger frame should be what to look for. The size is a bit different, so custom matting may be needed if you don't want to lose any of the picture.

Good luck.
