There are workshops where you listen to/watch someone demonstrate the subject of their topics and there are ones where you listen to the lecturer and then get time to practice what they talked about.

Example:

1) I attended a "lighting workshop" where the person running it would talk about lighting and then use that technique on a model, then show the result on a screen. It was pretty lame, but it was free.

2) Another really good workshop I attended... did a 4 hour classroom lecture then broke for lunch. After lunch we were put into groups of 4 photographers and 1 model, then had 4 hours of shooting time. The instructor would work with each photographer pointing out ways to improve. That was well worth it, BUT was almost $900 (but included a nice breakfast/lunch and model releases)

DSLR photography doesn't need to be over-complicated. This online photography course has been developed for beginners - intermediate levels and will teach you how to make the best use of your DSLR camera. https://tr.im/PhotographyMasterclass

Learning how to confidently use your DSLR will help you get full value out of this awesome camera you have already paid for!

This course has been developed after seeing many potential photographers give up far too soon, wasting good money they have spent on the purchase of their DSLR camera.
