what is this image effect?

and i want to know what effect is used on the image because i wanna edit mine like that :)
i think a lot of roleplayers and stuff on myspace use it + premade pages too.
i just need to know the effect and/or what programs you can do them on

Anyways, the "effect" you're probably referring to is the overall colors of the picture. There are no premade effects to easily apply it to any image. It takes some small photoshop work.



First off, I'm guessing she used the picture of a sidewalk, or some texture and used the blend modes "overlay" or "vivid light" it over the image. That's why the picture has a good looking texture. Then she made brushed in some colors in a new layer to add a little color.

No, not at all overdone. The first one gives a feeling of unease, that works well with the image to convey a mood. The second one is amazing! Very well done! And I see I've already left a comment on the third. I stand by it.
