I am working on a photography project. I have to resize and submitt photos to 192 ppi at 6 inches wide by 4 inches high.

My photo editing skills are not that strong. I use online photo editor.

If I just resize the photos to 6 inches by 4 inches will I get the ppi needed?

No, it will not just happen. Why do they want such an oddball resolution? But anyway, you will have to enter size and resolution (192) into a program that has such a resize function.

Are you SURE that the requirement does not mean that the photos be AT LEAST 192 ppi, and that anything over that is fine? That would make far more sense, as that is simply a way to insure reasonable quality. Check again, and be sure if it actually is requiring the photos to be exactly 192 ppi.

No, almost certainly not except buy accident.

You will have to calculate the pixels to get 192 for that size (except in a few programs) and change to the pixel size and then output to 6x4 inches. 4 times 92 is 768 while 6 = 1152 so you will have to resize to 768 x 1162.

However, note that your pictures may not be proportioned right for this - you may have to crop. For example, if your pictures are 1280 x 2048, when you set the first number to 768, the second (if aspect ratio is held) will be bigger than 1152 and your picture would print at 4x6.4 or something like that.

I use Paint.net and it tells me what the size and dpi is when I resize it. Paint.net is free for download. Usually changing dpi changes the size.
