In the new commercial from Verizon for the Samsung Galaxy S5 there is a scene looking down on a city street with a bunch of people walking. There is a really cool focus effect on it that makes it almost look like a miniature city model. Does anyone know how they get that effect? Is it a filter?

Thanks in advance!

It's called "tilt shift" - an effect you get when you use a tilt shift lens with a camera. There's an Android app that can fake it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jellybus.tiltshiftfree

You can also fake it in image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or the free image editor GIMP http://www.gimp.org

Just because they use the effect in their commercial, doesn't necessarily mean you can do it on the phone.

Personally, I think that phones were created for speaking to people, cameras for taking photos, and camcorders for video. If you use the right tool for the job, you will ALWAYS get better results.

In this particular case, there possibly could be an app for the blur, but I"m not big on apps.

Or perhaps it was done the proper way, via a real camera, in which case it could have been done as a blur in post production (using software), or via tilt-shift lens or via a lens baby lens.

There is even a lens baby out for a phone now: http://lensbaby.com/Mobile-LM-10

Samsung Galaxy S5 isn't out yet so can't say anything about it. iPhone 5 is the one left.

think the best is advent tegra note, because it has nvidia, most powerful graphics card which equates to best picture quality. I made some pictures two days ago, honestly, nothing can beat that. x
