CropMom (http://www.cropmom.com) lets you create your own greeting cards using your photos and CropMom's digital scrapbook graphics.

It's free and easy to use.

Just register, log in and upload your photo. Click Get Started. To make a greeting card, use the 5" by 7" canvas size. Drag and drop your photo onto the canvas. Then drag and drop any of CropMom's digital scrapbook graphics onto the canvas. You can rotate and resize the graphics and photo. You can click "add text" to add your own message.

Once you've finished, save your final card. You can go to My Layouts, then click on the layout to download it as a low-resolution JPEG file. Or you can click Share to share it by e-mail with a friend.

If you want to print your card, you can purchase for a small fee the high-resolution JPEG file of your layout. From there, you can print it at home or you can upload it to a site like Shutterfly or Snapfish and have it printed out. The results are beautiful if you print it.

First, you will need the right software to make Photo Christmas Cards... I highly recommend "Print Shop Deluxe," it quick and easy for beginners to pick up. It can be purchased at Wal-Mart, Office Max, Office Depot, etc. There is other software out there... just ask a salesperson for additional assistance. I think MS Office has options on Word and Publisher (if so equipped). All software materials will tell you how to create these types of cards.

Second, you will need a "photo." Many of software options I recommended above have "stock" images that you can use... but you can images from a digital camera as well.

Thrid, you will need proper paper. Good card stock can be purchased from most stores and most software have different sizes programmed in.

Forth, I don't recommend "DIY" cards.. why? It can be expensive... Think about it... you must purchase paper and ink, which are both expensive. Try using the photo kiosks at Rite-Aid, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Meijer's, etc... You can create professional cards, on professional paper for around 75 cents per card. While it may worth it to create a few cards "DIY" cards, large quantities and gets expensive... use a service like I recommend.

I always make mine using ‘WORD’. You could use ‘PUBLISHER’ but I find Word just as easy.

First you will need to have saved the required photographs to your computer.

Open a new ‘WORD’ document.

Decide how you require the end result to look. (Portrait or Landscape)

Then got to Menu Bar > Insert > Picture > From File

Locate the picture required and click on ‘Insert’ button

Click on the inserted Picture and you should have the ‘Picture’ Tool Bar open

Click on ‘Text Wrapping’ and select ‘Through’. The handles on the image will turn from Black to White.

Using the CORNER handles ONLY resize the image as required.

Position the image as required

You can now add text using ‘Word Art’ anywhere you like. If the words should vanish behind the image, then select the Image, and using the ‘Drawing’ tool Bar select: - Draw > Order > Send to Back.

Once you have this you can print, as do, onto Glossy Photo paper.

Now using a Text Box design the wards you require inside the card.

When completed put the original sheet of paper, with your image printed on, back into the printer (The correct way round – None Glossy side), sent to Print.

When all inks are dry, fold as required.

If you only want small cards, I usually get two ‘Landscape’ cards onto one A4 sheet.

Hope this helps

If you already have the photo you want to use (and you have the rights to reprint it) then it is very simple. Without any computer skills you can order cards from a professional printing company (such as mpix or winkflash). These companies generally offer 4"x8" flat cards as well as folded 5x7 traditional cards for a reasonable price. Another option is to have the image printed by your local photo lab and then insert them into cards from Photographer's Edge. Photographer's Edge makes very high quality cards that when properly sealed are nearly impossible to detect how the card was inserted.

Use some nice glossy cardboard as a base. Fold this in half. Paste your picture on the front and make a separate insert with your personal message and place this inside the card.

For pasting the image and also the image I generally use a small piece of double sided tape.

There are lots of on line photo printing sites that do cards with your photos. You upload one of your photos and select the card design you want and the cards are made with your photo. I have some due in today as a matter of fact!

Mpix is one of the best printers in existence. You can get cards done there.

I've found a couple of sites online for doing it.

The first one I tried was Greetings from Photobox, but I could not complete the order due to some problem with the site which still has not been rectified.

I have just ordered from MOO. Not received my order yet, but the site is very easy to use.

Try microsoft publisher - it is pretty easy to use. Add photos, arrange them how you'd like, add backrounds, etc... Then do "select all" (or CTRL+A), right click and select "Save As Picture." the entire collage will be one big photo...print and cut out.
