Can anyone help with ideas for photography for my art GCSE?

ive been given my art gcse paper and i want to do about viewpoints as i would like to include photography. ive tried searchin different viewpoints and things that may help develop my ideas but i cant seem to be finding anything. can i anyone give me some help or advice please?

my main advice is... youre tutors/teachers get paid a lot of money to answer questions of exactly this sort - go ask them. its what theyre there for



my other advice though to anyone in a creative rut is just do something, anything. no matter how stupid or bad - doodle, collage magazines, scribble, take photos of anything that takes your fancy, get them back and play around with them. whatever. it is often paralysis brought on by not having anything at all, once you have something, no matter how dumb, it can help release the ideas.

Great art comes from letting yourself go and just going with something. Try to relax about it, you dont have to know what your going to do at the end, just make a start on something, art is often about the journey.

I am into photography in a big way as well as art. I know your topic is Viewpoints.



I saw someone the other day when I went to a recycling centre, taking photos there. I am just wondering as the environment is very topical at the moment whether you could do a series of photographs making statements of the environment.

Perhaps you could go and take photos of all the brightly coloured aluminium cans that have been crushed into blocks

A picture of a litter bin loaded up, or a littered site somewhere, then a comparison, of a clean and green place, and then a beautiful tree.



There is plenty of info on the subject too so you wouldn't find it difficult to gather info, also you could interview different people on their viewpoints with regard to the environment.

Viewpoints is one of the best topics you can do because there's so many ways of interpreting it, I had to do viewpoints for my AS art. very very fun :)

-You can almost personify objects in this way (instead of looking at an object, how about the object looking at you)

-weird corners and spaces provide good imagery, the way that you take the photograph can induce many illusions too

-the way the images are presented can also be interpreted as a viewpoint, take a look at photographers such as Moholy-Nagy or Man Ray

Dissaffected youths?



Every area in the UK has them, so you shouldnt be short of having some. And if you dont want to approach strangers, ask some guys from school if they wouldnt mind posing for you. Offer kisses or a bag of Skittles and a Sunny D as a thank you - will be sure to work.



You could photograph how they have f-all to do and so just do some black and white shots of teens hanging around corner shops, BOOZING in the parks, vandalising bins, etc. Try and get some street lights or a half/full moon in some of your shots - it will contrast brilliantly with the monotone photos!



When you summarise your photos, you could say you took the photos in black and white to emphasise the "grey", boring lives these kids lead (because there is nothing to do). Full marks if you ask me.

I have one hint. Viewpoints - think about the world from the viewpoint and height of a small child.

maybe overlay someone skateboarding, someone busking, someone playing football etc in the same area to show more viewpoints

Take up a bunch of your modelly friends, dress them in bad mis-matching, flashy colours

and put them around the city as if they're begging for fashion advice! :D
