How much do I charge a photographer for nude/semi nude modelling?

I have been approached to do a photographic shoot for a new gay men's magazine which would entail nude/semi nude pictures. I am told these will be not be pornographic and the shoot would be for one day.
He has asked me to quote a price for the work and I wouldn't have a clue. as obviously I wouldn't want to do it for too cheap, but don't wanna price myself out of the job.
Its a long shot but are there any males out there who have done this recently and how much did they recieve for the work, and also can is it reasonable to ask for expenses.
Thanks

This question actually has been posted in the wrong section. Regardless, you might want to take a look at http://www.ModelMayhem.com. Models and photographers meet on that board to do everything from organizing photo shoots to discussion of what's an appropriate fee by both photographers and models. What you'll hate to hear is that this is one place where men usually don't get paid as much as women.

For one thing, gay magazines just don't get the same circulation as "Playboy" type magazines. Chances are high that they never will. Even among straight magazines, women just aren't as likely to pay money to look at pictures of men much as men will buy to view the opposite sex.

Still, modeling is modeling. Your portfolio and experience will affect your pay rate. Experienced models are paid not just for how good they look but, their ability to work with the photographer to capture the images he wants. There are some famous models who can only get runway jobs but aren't asked to do photo shoots unless the person who commissions the photographer demands it. For example, there have been Victoria Secret models with whom some photographers refused to work unless it was a Victoria Secret shoot and the model just had to be in the catalog.

Humm ... have you signed a contract yet? If you have them you might want to check out the cancelation penalties. MET-ART is a nice site but it's a bit more than artistic nude ... genetalia is very obviously displayed but it's only one model, no hardcore, no toys ... nothing like that. Some of the shots are just one step past artistic nude in my opinion but still several staps away from porn mag status. As for getting sexy in front of a friend ... depending on the guy, it shouldn't be a problem. You have to remember that he does this all the time. It's his job and while most likely enjoys his work, it's not like he's a sex starved teen. I say go ahead and do the shoot. Do ou think it will be more or less akward if you've just cost him thousands of dollars for setting up the shoot or from him seeing you with a bit less than what you wear at th beach?

I'm getting a red flag on this one. A professional photographer would be aware of the going rate and would have made an offer. Perhaps he is starting out too. Nevertheless, I would ask a few more questions: (1) To what magazine will he submit the photos? Ask to see a recent issue. Does he have an ongoing relationship with them? (2) Ask to see his portfolio to get an idea of what kinds of photographs he takes. These are the kinds of things for which you should get answers in order to ease the obvious concern that he is a guy with a camera who just wants to see you naked.

It all depends on wither or not you are doing it for the money or for the exposure, (pun intended). How much is your time worth? Who is providing the wardrobe? Traveling Expenses? Refreshments? etc. What do you make in your current job? It is your time that you will be spending. What ever you chose, set a rate per hour plus expenses.

Depends on how much experience/clout you have as a model. Seeing as you are asking this question, I am assuming your experience is limited. Ask for $500 per day plus expenses.
