I have the same assignment, it's a load of ****. It's how an object is percieved through angles. Such as when an image is captured but shows a certain angle which makes the object appear different. Well...thats what i've got told.

Not clear whether your assignment is:

'recording objects' - recording (verb gerund) objects (noun) -

In which case, you need to find some ancient old Grundig with hippy attached -

or go to a recording studio and document a session.

Another option - a Nagra film sound recording machine in situ (Brazilian Rainforest? Bird house London Zoo, Kew Gardens, Holland Park?) with sound recordist attached?)

Could be a lie detector session in situ,

a surveyor with a damp meter,

a builder with an electronic tape measure as they start work on the Olympic Park;

surveyors with theodolites in the street;

traffic warden taking pics of cars in street,

police monitoring Notting Hill Carnival from Scotland Yard HQ;

The cameras in Barking / Dagenham that shout at people to pick up the litter they just dropped;

Recording devices at the race course, at football matches, at greyhound stadiums, at Wimbledon, speed cameras, the devices used in police stations to record suspects' interviews, the CCTV in supermarkets; the recording devices at the London Marathon

- actually, although this seemed to me, initially, to be the most boring option, the possibilities are endless.

Or 'recording objects' - recording (adjective) objects (noun):

in which case the world is your oyster!!! The world is jampacked with objects just waiting for you to record them!!!

I think that the question simply refers to you photographing 3 dimensional objects (anything that you can see or that is used) that record something i.e.: images, information, sound such as music, movement, water flowing, temperature, measurement, etc. etc.. Here the list is fairly long.

As its a photography assignment I would say that you need to go out and find them, then photograph them.

Museums record objects.

Victorian photographers recorded different people from all around the globe once the camera had been invented. I suggest you look at these two genres of photography for guidance and the methods used and try to copy their methods of recording.

In forensic cases the courts require very accurate photographic recording of crime scenes. The images need to be as objective as possible and to achieve this certain rules apply to the way these images are recorded.
