Question:
Isolate blues and desaturate in Photoshop?

If possible, how do I just put blues on a separate layer? My ultimate goal, though, is to desaturate the blues...if it's possible.

I guess I'm thinking like color splash, but opposite, selecting a color and desaturating it, versus only having a certain color saturated. I'd like it to keep from affecting the reds and greens though...

For the record, I don't know how to color splash in Photoshop either. I know I suck haha. Can someone please direct me to an option/tool in Photoshop (CS5)? Thanks for any help

Go to the menu bar and click Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation. A window will pop up with some sliders and you click the Blues or Cyans from the color options and move the saturation slider left. It will only change the saturation of the blue tones in your photo.

Um, what I would do is copy the layer, desaturate the new layer then erase away everything that isn't blue on the top layer which would leave you with just blue in desaturation. Depending on the picture, you might also be able to use the magnet tool and just select blue things then desaturate that, but I find that to be more difficult and unpredictable.
