Hello, So I am a photographer, I have just finished my course and set up a studio.
Now I am trying to get my business going, I don't just have one category I am interested in photographing, its a few things like babies, family, maternity, weddings....etc.
My name is Brianna Dawn, I don't what it to be called Brianna Dawn photography, its boring and it has been used many times.
So here is what I was thinking....
Breaking Dawn Photography by Brianna Dawn.
because it is my initials and my last name and when I make my logo I can use the B from Breaking to write Brianna and the D from Dawn to write Dawn.

I wasn't sure at first because of the 'Breaking dawn' twilight saga.
but i think it will be fine and you never know maybe there will be some twilight fans who will want photographs from me because of it.

And for a logo I was thinking I would just keep it simple and do BD, in a nice font.
But if you have any ideas I am open...
Also, do I need 'slogan' for some sort?
If so, what would it be, I am terrible at things like that.

Thank You =)

You are correct that there could be some twilight fans who would want their photographs from you because of it...

Unfortunately, there is also a film production company that could be very interested in your business name. The company that produced the Twilight films, Summit Entertainment, could take issue with that name. They could send you a cease and decist letter, and possibly sue you for using that name (especially if you do anything with your logo that is in ANY WAY similiar to the Twlight logos). At best, you would have to change the company name, and you'd lose all of the money you spent designing your logo and printing out various things with that logo on them. At worst, you would end up having to pay them damages.

Google "who dat lawsuit" and you'll find tons of articles about how various companies have been sued for using the phrase "who dat" in New Orleans, because both the NFL and another company from Baton Rouge, Louisiana have claimed ownership of that phrase. While the NFL eventually dropped their claim due to the negative publicity, the company from Baton Rouge hasn't yet, and it is likely to end up in court.

You can be like the masses of humanity and buy a camera you can afford that has auto this and that for worry free picture taking. And learn through trial and error how to use something like aperture or shutter priority auto modes or even attempt to use the thing on full manual mode.

You seem to know already there is some thinking to using a camera and to take pictures. A good place to start is by reading the owners manual that comes with a camera. Read the information and look at the illustrations with part names and look at the real camera. Handle the camera and take pictures. Let me rephrase that. Take pictures to learn how to use the camera and maybe even to keep some. Don't start with important stuff you cannot photograph over again such as birthdays, a toddlers first steps. That puts picture taking out of the learning phase and puts the pressure and emphasis to taking pictures for real and to keep.

These first pictures are for you to learn how to use your camera. And you have learned how to use your camera when you can take pictures with it and can teach others how to use it. Honest. You can also go to a college in your area and take a beginning photography course. There you will be taught the basics even a pro must learn and do in their work. Camera handling and use, taking exposures with film and/or digital cameras, and maybe even some photo assignments to get some real time learning. In this learning do not take serious pictures you must keep as that detracts from the learning aspect of the class. Do so only if you have mastered the use of your camera before class is over.

It's like growing up in a way. And I am happy you know there is a way to learn how to use a camera and take pictures. It's like learning how to drive I suppose. Someone can teach you or you can get taught at a driving school. Both will get you a drivers liscense. One though will really teach you the fundamentals you can use for the rest of your driving career.

You have good ideas. I think you have chosen good categories of photography. The name and logo should be attractive which can easily get the attention of audience and the should define your business completely in a word. Weddings photography is a good idea because it has good competition and you can make your business well in this field. Get you own website made and do its marketing to introduce your business to other and on international level.
