My Aunt is looking to change all of her old fashion slides into pictures and CD for my father's choir reunion in a year. There are 28 years of great slides we want to use, but need a little update in the technology.

Almost any scanner that you can purchase will scan slides to digital pictures or files that can be burned onto a CD or a DVD. You have a lot of work ahead of you, but it sounds like you have enough time to do it. I would concentrate on the best pictures and forget about all the snapshots of picnics and kids swinging.
For something like this you might want to look into the www.photodex.com site for DVD software. It's not all that expensive and you can put background music with the pictures and even include videos if you have some.
Good luck..............

With a couple of hundred transparencies, it would be worth purchasing a flatbed scanner. Something like an Epson 4870 would give excellent results. With appropriate image editing software, once scanned into your computer you would be able to remove dust and scratches, improve colour imbalances and fading. You would be able to make them look like new. If you do this don't listen to anyone who suggests you scan at low resolutions e.g. less than 1200spi. Go for at least 2400. You will be able to print poster size prints then. You never know with transparencies approaching 50 years old you may have some financially valuable material there.

You may find that it works to project the slides one by one on to a screen and take a digital or film photo of each slide. Then burn it on to CD on your Computer or take it to a shop and have it done. Failing that there are professionals that do the process for you although you may find it works out a lot more expensive.
Good luck

There is a very simple way of doing it and you should be able to do it well.. get a good digital camera.. project the slides onto a screen.. and take a digital picture of them.. then load it into your computer.adobe photo shop. you should be able to color correct and clean up any flaws in your pictures.. capture the pics with as many pixels as possible then you can shrink it down from there with clairity.. just take a good picture of a good picture.. it is that easy..

Take them to a photo specialty shop like Wolf's Camera or a Kodak center. Not to sure about drug stores or wal-mart.
