How do people take such fantastic self-portraits?

Question

In strolling through Flickr, I've found a few examples of what I think must be self-portraiture, and I have no idea how they were taken.

These pictures are well timed, focused, and framed - I don't see how it could have been done with a timer. A few state that they’re self-portraits. Even for the ones that don’t, they seem to feature the same subject every time, and I can't imagine a model being willing or able enough to go through so many different pictures (especially a 365 day project) with a photographer.
My only conclusion is these must be self-portraits, but how? I’m very perplexed. :/

lissy elle's (lissy elle is one of my contacts actually, haha) one is a bit more complicated because it's a levitation photo, which is edited in photoshop, and i'm not completely sure how she does them, i'm sure you could google levitation photos and it would tell you. these are all self portraits, usually using a tripod, and to get the focus right you put something in front of the camera where you are going to be, focus on it and either use timer (which is what i use because i don't have a remote) or a wireless remote. :)

Practice, some people become so good at taking photos of themselves because they do it all the time. I'm not really a fan of this, but hey, whatever makes you smile. It's like that with every sort of photography, or anything. Just don't be afraid to experiment and try something different.
