The easiest way is to right click on the photo, choose Open With, then choose Paint. On here you will click on the text tool, the letter A. You will click and drag a rectangle where you want to put your name. After doing that, at the top menu click on transparent so the letters show up without a solid color box blocking you photo. Also type this the copyright symbol and the year you shot it.

Type your name, hold down the ALT key & type 0169, then 2011. This works for any computer program, including on the internet. ibsawdust©2011 Move the mouse around the edges of the dotted line rectangle. When you see the 4 headed arrowhead, you can move the text box anywhere on your photo.

After you type what you want, there is a top menu where you choose the font style, size and color. When you're done, clock on the pic outside the rectangle.

Well I hesitate at even calling myself an amateur, just enjoy learning about photog. and "trying"... but I agree with you. I think it is presumptuous. Ok, it is kind of touching in a way, to see all the youngsters convinced that what they're doing is stealable, and thinking that they're "the real deal". I'm a teacher (teenagers) and in a way I'd much prefer to have a bunch of kids that are presumptuous about being an artist, photographer, singer, etc... rather than have them boasting about how much they can drink instead (which is what they do here). At least it shows that they have a strong interest in it (photog), and some ambition. But it does annoy me to see a Watermark on mediocre pictures. And even more so when the person is a bit older. A lot of people nowadays seem to have lost the notion of being humble, and having to learn something over time. My hubby's a professional musician and we see that all the time, with people of all ages, but especially the young : buy an instrument, learn for a month, think you're brilliant at it and you've nothing else to learn, and god forbid you should try and listen and learn from "better" players at that stage, because somehow you've become better than them. These watermarks scream "I've arrived" to me, and that's what annoys me when the people have obviously not arrived.
