Before I went on a trip to California, I purchased a new 16gb memory card on eBay for my camera, because I wanted to be sure that I did not run out of room. When I received the memory card, I took a few test shots, and they all seemed to turn out fine, so I took it with me to California.

I returned yesterday, and immediately ran to upload my pictures onto my computer, because I took a TON. Unfortunately, almost all of my pictures are ruined. There seem to be three separate problems that have occurred with various pictures.

The first is that the camera or computer will just tell me that there is a file error, and show me a blue screen instead of the picture.

The second is that a lot of pictures turned out like this:

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b232/Linkinparkfan211/DSC00722.jpg

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b232/Linkinparkfan211/DSC00012.jpg

Those pictures have the weird bands of color across them, that are inconsistent throughout my pictures (the coloring changes, the size of the bands, the amount and placement of the bands). When reviewing these pictures on the camera's screen, the bands are not visible, and the picture looks as if it turned out normal. The most frustrating thing is that the bands are not always consistent, sometimes I can open a picture three times in a row and it will change the size or color of the bands each time it is opened.

The third problem is that some of the pictures seem to have pieces/sections from multiple other pictures added onto the picture that I am trying to view. For example:

The small red arrows point to parts of that picture that are actually pieces of other pictures on the camera.

My other memory card is not having this problem whatsoever. This problem is occurring on both my computer and my laptop.

My camera is a Sony Cyber-shot. The memory card is a Sony memory stick PRO Duo 16 gb.

What could cause these errors, and is there ANY way to save my pictures???

Thank you SO much in advance.

It could still be your camera -- just because using a different memory card works fine doesn't mean it's not the camera. That's one common misconception when people are using cameras.

Some cameras can only accept a card up to a certain size. A lot of cameras have a 4 or 8 gig limit, and though it's rare, using a larger card can cause problems.

One thing to check is -- is the card formatted properly? That can cause an issue as well.

Where else would you find the limit on the camera? The box. The user manual. The specifications. Google isn't that hard to use, you know...

If all else fails, contact the card manufacturer and ask for a replacement. If they won't give you one, just get a new one.

That is insane...

Death: I don't think they are interested in getting a new memory card, they want to know how they can "fix" the pictures they took on vacation...

Hmm you MIGHT be able to fix some of them using some form of a photo editor. http://picnki.com is a good one. You could try cropping them, messing with the exposure...

Click on Tools at top of any web page you can open..on dropdown click on "internet options" This will bring a box onto the screen,on the box click the delete button for all temp, history and, temp internet files...after doing that try restarting your computer
