Hello, Your choice of lighting depends greatly on what you are actually filming. Lighting effects mood in a great way. Say you want something it to look neutral, the best form of lighting you could go for is a 3 point set up. You'll need three soft-boxes, one on the left of the camera facing your actor, one right of the camera and one directly above the actor. This will give you a simple look with little shadows. If it is greenscreen, or you just want your background well lit, go for a similar layout but add another two additional lights left and right shining directly onto the screen. If, however, you want it to look more comfortable and warming, add some yellow and red lights to the mix, keeping the soft-boxes. To make it more hostile, take away the soft-boxes and the shadows will become sharper and less comfortable for the audience.

I just use a clamp light that I got from Lowes. I have it clamped on top of a tripod and point it right in front of me! :) Check this out for an idea of what I use....this is not Me...but this is who I got the idea from! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yg3RA7X5WDE
