Shutter count on a used camera?

Question

Found a very reliable seller on Amazon. They are selling a Nikon D3000 for $350. okay, my question is, the shutter count is 761. Im planning on having this camera for 2-3 years, as I am still a beginner. Whats the maximum count for a camera of this quality? Its not the best camera, i know. Im only 14 and this is coming out of my own wallet so I cant spend too much. i love this camera, i tried it at a bestbuy but its almost 300$ more there. I would really like to buy this one.

A D3000 is a great camera to learn with. It is not too expensive, and still provides pretty good photos. And the shutter count, as others have said, makes it like new.



Realize that the shutter count is just a MTBF figure, and has no bearing on whether or not that is what you will get. I would not be surprised if 100,000 is the MTBF for that camera. At any rate, that does not mean the camera is going to be kaput at that point. It only means you may have to repair it at that point, which will be a long way off.



My eldest son still has a D3000 and has done very well with it, and his shutter count is at 40,000. He has had it three years, and takes photos of everything.

That's no longer a prosumer digicam however a bridge digicam. Prosumer cameras are a specific fee variety of DSLRs. A bridge digicam like that doesn't have a bodily shutter and thus no shutter depend to remember. Generally shutter counts aren't anything to fear approximately even in DSLRs. The shutters are validated to resist one hundred.000 and extra actuations. If shutter failure happens, then more often than not as a result of production defects and really early on, good inside the guarantee interval of the digicam. If it lasts via the guarantee interval, then the shutter is a well one and can most likely a ways exceed the one hundred.000 actuations.

If the shutter count is 761 then it's nearly new! That camera should be good for 100,000 actuations if you look after it... although the actual count can differ by quite a few thousand.
