I want to add enhancements to my daughters photos. Like adding color to a black & white print. Ex. The whole pic is black & white but I want to make her lips light pink. Any suggestions?

There are two good freeware [assuming you are seeking one] that you can check out.
PHOTOFILTRE [English edition]
This is the best freeware program right now, even better than The Gimp. It will more than do the job. You would just have to use the magic wand tool to select her lips, then choose one of the options [I think it's called "colored layer"-- I forget] to colorize them.
PHOTOPLUS
If you don't like Photofiltre for whatever reason, you could also check out PhotoPlus 6.0. This is another good free photo image editor that supports layers and will also enable you to do what you want.

The Gimp is the most fully featured image editing program that is absolutely free. It has everything photoshop has, but if you want to purchase Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, you'll have the industry standard application.
As for what you want to do, also known as selective desaturation, (or maybe hand coloring, if you're starting off with b&w print and not color-that is a different tutorial, which I'll provide a link) I just finished answering another question that explains the process.
The first link below is for the Gimp,
Second is the question I answered on selective desaturation (start with a color photo, remove all colors except the desired)
Third is for hand coloring tutorials, adding color to already b&w photos

I've used many, and Adobe Photoshop in my opinion is the one you need. The process isn't overly difficult once you learn the features, and professional results. The program itself is expensive but you can download what looks like a free trial at the site listed below. There are many good tutorials online for using Adobe Photoshop as well, for changing tints, etc.

go to a shareware site and do a search for photo editor or a similar term. I will list a couple of good sites below. Two good programs to watch for are Photoshop and Paint shop pro. I think paint shop pro has a free demo, not too sure about photoshop

I recommend PhotoPlus.
It is free and has all the tools I've needed for any of my photo editing. For you example, you would just have to use the want to select the area you want to change and then add the light pink tint.

adobe photoshop is by far the best program for what you want to do. professionals use it, so that should tell you it's good. i've downloaded a 30 day trial version of photoshop cs straight off their website. if you only need it for a few things, i'd recommend doing that. otherwise, the program itself can be quite pricey. check out www.adobe.com under "products" go to "digital imaging"

- Paintshop.com
- Photoplus.com
- Photoimpression.com
Or go to: gimp.org
Personally, the best is Photoshop Adobe

Photosop is great if you've got extra money to spend. But if you're looking for a great FREE software use the GIMP. It has lots of the same capablities as photoshop, but you download it for free online. That is what I use and I love it.
