I'm having trouble. I have the transparency cable plugged in, and I set up the film holder correctly, but when I scan the negatives it's coming out black. I'm such a novice. Help?

It would be helpful to know which model you are using. Is the light source in the transparency adapter on? Email me if I can help more.

Teddie is correct. Look closely when you open the scanner software. There should be an area somewhere that will have a selection list where you will enter the type of scan you are making. There should be one that says Color Negative Film, or what ever you are using. If you are doing that, and still having problems, then yes, you are probably doing something wrong, but it is nearly impossible to say what with the little information you give.

You need to have the right set up in your scanner's menu. It should say something about the format- negative film, color, black and white or gray scale. If it's not set for the right format, it won't work.
