My advice is going to depend on how much noise there is. Without seeing one, I don't know where to start. There are a lot of different things you can do. It may just be a simple matter of running it through a reduce noise filter, or it may need more extreme retouching/air brushing by hand. Is there any way you can show an example photo?

I'm afraid I don't know elements 7, but if the program has a 'noise reduction' filter, then you should try messing around with that. Hard to recommend a solution without seeing an example...

For future reference, graininess typically occurs when the ISO setting of your camera is high. Many cameras start to show a bit of graininess in the images at around ISO 400 and photos will become much grainier as the ISO increases. High ISO values are good when you are in a dim environment and can't use flash. Lower the ISO in bright environments and when doing flash photography.

This explains just about every way to remove noise using Elements.

There are also add-ons for Elements like Noise Ninja and Neat Image.

next time you should probably expose for your nephew's face instead of for the background (take a close-up meter reading of your nephew's face)
