At the moment I'm editing a church magazine. This is not for profit and carries no paid for advertising. The circulation is around 300.

In this regard, I am looking for an online source from which I can legally download photos, images, clip art etc. for free.

Does anyone know of such a source.

Look up the site Free Digital Photos. I believe it's www.freedigitalphotos.net but don't quote me on that. Keep in mind that this site requires attribution and most will when it's free. You cannot expect free and no attribution to the creator. When you rightfully pay for it you can get images without watermarks and/or attributing the creator of the image/art work.

And please, don't listen to Trinh. Some images from Flickr may be used so long as it is in the Creative Commons but not all of them are free for the taking. I've had Tumblr users and a few other idiots stealing my work even though I have All Rights Reserved set on all my photos and I request people e-mail to request for permission first. Unfortunately, most are too lazy to read let alone care about the intellectual property of others.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has recently made about 400,000 art paintings and drawings available for a free download. As long as it's for no-commercial use, you can refer to these paintings in your articles.

I would google royalty free images. You can use those. However, check the rules of the site; it might be royalty free for individual use only, not businesses (even not-for-profit).
