Photography or the study of light captures an moment freezes time and often it reflects the time it was taken. Often a picture says more than words can describe.it is used in books and headlines of newspapers it enhances our perception of our society it often reflects what is going on around us.when war pictures are displayed it can often sway how we feel and encapsulates the world we live in.before the invention of photography there was stone drawings then wood and animal hide then eventually paper and canvas all mediums that reflected the society of our time.in the age of digital medium and photoshop we tend to be more skeptical at what is going around us but nevertheless glam photography still exists and tends to sway teenagers especially to how they should look and be perceived wether this is right or wrong one has to only speculate.photography contributes by recording our society and also the imagery it uses to sway our opinions....it is nevertheless a footprint of what we leave behind.......................only an thought...with respect with nature we see things that we would take an life time to view..often as an underwater photographer it would take months to capture that fish or scene..or minutes if your lucky....we would not care if we did not see the damage to our environment if we did not see appalling images...we are influenced with what we see..in nature an image can freeze the moment or it can reflect the awesome beauty that is there...whether it be an whale,,shark,,ray,,bear..elephant what we see in the image the animal is doing can be amazing with respect to wildlife scenes there are some amazing images and people on the net...Edward Sheriff Curtis is an photographer that is an idol his work is in the Smithsonian ..he took photos of the area and time of the North American Indians before that way of life disappeared forever...and it has...that principle can also be referred t to the natural world..a world in constant flux and change with the encroachment of man...photographs help to trigger our conscience sometimes and they certainly show the awesome majesty of nature..storms , lightning , volcanic action and tsunamis...these are guidelines only to see what photographs do....especially in the film/video version........just an thought

Photography involves capturing images with a camera. These images can be of just about anything, including people, places, animals, objects, or events.
Another impact of photography can be seen in is tourism, where photography has a very important role to play

You seem to be artifically separating religion from science. Much of mathematics and astronomy was developed by religious people to solve religious problems e.g., exactly when is the month over etc... Muslims and Jews provided a lot of math and astronomy. Medicine and agriculture also came largely from religious people trying to solve religious problems (how does blood work, how many bones are there in the body etc...) Even your example of the world being created over 4.5 B years v 7 days falls apart. It falls apart not because it really was 7 days but because almost no religions hold to that interpretation. Jews certainly don't. The Biblical 7 days were never seen as 7 human days as a dogma issue. And if it makes you feel better, Rabbi Isaac of Acko calculated the age of the universe as billions of years old and he did it in the 10th century using religious grounding. Neither atheism nor religion has a lock on progress and science. And both can support science and both can undermine science and lead to atrocities in the name of religion or science (whether it is crusades or the inquisition or eugenics). And the ravioli fallacy described by another poster is a great description.

The phtography have an ability to sooth, move, and inspire us. When our lives are touched by the creativity of others, we often feel “called” to get in touch with our own. With this in mind, conference-goers at the Eden Alternative International Conference next week will have the opportunity to experience and purchase the work of five Nashville area artists. As Elders, each artist shares so eloquently below how art contributes to their well-being and how it has touched and enriched their lives and the lives of others….

mostly it doesn't... most of society couldn't care less about nature photography...
it only shows plants and animals...
society is usally affected by paparazzi shots of celebs... or natural disasters...

This is a homework question, isn't it? Go out and buy a newspaper. You will see that it has photographs in it. Use your imagination and answer the question yourself.

Because it "captures" what people like to enjoy and see when they can't be there themselves
