hello everyone i have a nikon p500 and i love doing night photography but it has the max 8sec of exposure time which is less is there some shutter release available for it or is there some way i could increase the exposure time................. please help

No, you cannot increase the exposure time with a remote release, (and I doubt you can even get such a thing for that camera). All a remote release does is just what it says, it gives you the ability to remotely activate the shutter. From that point on, it is no different than if you had pushed the button on the camera yourself. The camera is then in control regardless of if the shutter was activated with a remote release or by a person actually pushing the button.



If you are wanting to get into more serious photography such as this, you need a more sophisticated camera, one that allows you to set longer exposure times, or even use what is known as the Bulb mode that will keep the shutter open as long as you want. An entry level DSLR will give you these benefits.

I didn't think it went to 8 seconds! The limit on the shutter can't be gotten around. I am sorry!
