I am thinking of buying the Holga 120 format film camera. I am wondering where I could go to develop the films- such as Boots or any reasonably priced shops/ photo labs- I live near Brighton if that helps! Also roughly how much does this film cost and if anyone knows- can you buy it from Boots?

Thank you!

120 has to be lab developed, it mucks up the machines that supermarkets and chemists have. What you simply do is google "photo labs brighton" and here are your local ones. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=photo+lab+brighton&fb=1&gl=uk&hq=photo+lab&hnear=brighton&view=text&ei=wnyiS_VUlsqMB9rgvO0J&sa=X&oi=local_group&ct=more-results&resnum=4&ved=0CCcQtQMwAw

Now as to getting a Holga, I cannot express the poinlessness and waste of money it is! They're really expensive toy cameras, that really aren't good for photographing anything. If you want to take up photography as a hobby, get an ordinary film SLR like a Canon AE1, Nikon FM or Pentax K1000! They are honest to god proper cameras that actually let YOU be creative, rather than pretending to be creative.

And if you must go medium format then there are plenty of good 645's out there for you to look at! Bronica's ETR series is good and inexpensive. And if you want 6x6 medium format, there's plenty out there too!

Stay away from the High Street Shops with 120 roll film.

Buy and have you film processed at Colab, Coventry. Someone else has already mentioned them.

Also remember to store the roll film in an air tight container in the fridge as it will age effecting the colours.

Since you don't say where you are we can't possibly search for a local lab. You could do a yellow pages search, either in the book or online for a local lab that handles medium format film. If you find a local lab, just call them up and tell them exactly what kind of film you have and ask if they can process it for you.

Colab in coventry and Jessops all offer a 120 service, be it C41 or E6...

they both have websites and colab is a top pro lab... its not boots who, dont ever get a penny of mine, after the antics they pull with customers film... (look up julia sommerville)

you can look for pro photo labs. or as your a A level student, knock up some Id11 and dev it yourself... (B&W)
